1. Cut a rectangular piece of wallpaper to the size of your gift bag. Base your dimensions on the following formula for a bag measuring H 46.5 cm x W 30 cm x
D 6 cm:

Extra margin for the height: H (46.5 cm) + D (6 cm) + 2 cm extra margin

Extra margin for the width: 2x W (60 cm) + 4 cm extra margin

Measure your chosen size on the back of the wallpaper, draw it on the wallpaper and cut out a rectangle.

2. Lay the wallcovering with its profile side facing the table. Now fold half the width of your bag + 2 cm (32 cm) from right to left. Repeat this step on the other side. Fold open both sides again and draw your chosen image at the top in the centre. We used a star template. Cut out your image from the inside.

3. Cut a thin piece of paper that covers the whole of your image. Cut a piece of wallpaper the same size. Glue the thin piece of paper over your image. Apply glue around your image on the back of the thin piece of paper. Lay the piece of wallpaper you have cut loosely on top of the image with the profile side facing up.

4. Fill your image with a fine string of lights. Leave the battery outside of your image so that you can control the light however you wish. Now press down the piece of wallpaper gluing it into place.

5. Fold in both sides of the bag again and glue them together to the extra margin you have allows (overlapping section). Fold the depth of your bag plus a 2 cm margin from the bottom upwards (6 cm + 2 cm). Now fold open the base flat.

6. Now fold the lower edge up. To do this, fold over half of the width of your bag plus an extra 2 cm margin
(3 cm + 2 cm). Repeat this step folding from the top downwards. Then glue the base to the overlapping section.

7. Now fold half of your bag depth (3 cm) from the outside in. Repeat this step on the opposite side. Now cleanly fold down the sides so that your bag is easy to open and close.

8. All you need now are the handles.

Cut two strips of wallpaper to the length and width you need. Allow an extra margin of 2 cm at both ends and make the width two and a half times wider than you actually need. Then cut out the strips.

9. Fold in the extra margins you allowed and glue them to each other.

10. Glue the handle to the inside of the bag.

11. Do the same with the second handle, making sure that they are both evenly positioned.

12. And, you're done! Your illuminated gift bag is ready to use.
